I got my Ravelry invite yesterday. It is officially the. coolest. thing. EVER! I am so excited about it, I can’t even tell you. It will be a marvelous resource for the whole knitting community, and I can’t wait until there are even more users sharing projects.
(This might be old news, but in case it isn’t: Right now it’s in beta testing, so you can’t immediately join. You CAN, however, sign up on the invitation list. The amazing people running it are inviting people as the capacity allows. It will be open for real some time soon.)
For those of you who haven’t signed up or are still waiting, here is a preview of my project notebook.

You can add WIPs, FOs, “hibernating” projects, and frogged projects. It allows you to rate them by level of satisfaction, and search for other people’s versions, or what other people have made with the same yarn.
There is also a really neat “stash” feature. I’ve never categorized my stash before (because I’m in denial) but this looks really promising.

My stash and my camera are packed away at the new place, and I only had three stash pictures handy, so it’s a rather dramatic underestimate of what I actually have. But you get the idea
I’m amazed at the wonderful work that has gone into the site so far. What a great idea!

Reading.

I won’t get all political on you, this is a knitting blog. All I will say is that it takes a darn good book to completely keep me from knitting for two days.

A few of you have asked if I finished those socks for my mom.

I didn’t. I showed them to her on Mother’s Day, and she seems to like them. She forgives me, because she’s forgiving in general, she loves me, and I have a good excuse.
Three good excuses, actually. I’ve barely been knitting at all lately, for the following reasons.
1) Work

We’re working on a huge case right now. HUGE! I just got home from work actually. At 12:20 am. How depressing.
2) The Move

You may be thinking “hey, so that condo you bought… when are you actually moving there?” In a week. I’m not remotely ready.
3) I have a boo-boo on my yarn finger.

I know, I’m a big baby. It’s not a bad boo-boo, but it’s on the finger I use to “throw” the yarn, so it makes the whole operation much more difficult.
The boo-boo is almost better and the move will be over by June 1 whether I like it or not. Work will be busy until I quit to go to law school. Ah well, just a few more months to go.

It has come to my attention that my family stops by the blog occasionally. So, Mom, if you happen to be looking at this in the next couple of days, move along, nothing to see here.

I love them!

My Knittyboard (formerly) secret pal Jody sent me Fetchings, and they’re great. I’ve never made them, so I didn’t really realize how clever the pattern is. The cables pull in the gauge, so they’re a bit tigter around the wrists and knuckles to keep them on. Brilliant! Thank you Jody!

Serrano is coming along nicely.

I’ve done a bit more since the picture was taken, but here we have three completed repeats of the lace pattern, or six tiers of eyelets. In the various photos that I’ve seen, it seems that most people start decreasing for the neckline after nine tiers. I should be there next weekend. I’m really surprised at how quickly this is going, given that it uses sock yarn.
I’m also surprised at how little yarn this is using. I just joined my second ball, so we’re looking at less than five ounces, or approximately 500 yards so far. That’s doesn’t seem like very much at all to me.

I also have what can only be called a preposterous amount of this yarn. It hurts my brain to think of it in terms of yards, so let me just admit that it’s about a pound and a half. Good thing I like the color. Where did I get it, you ask? I bought it in two or three separate mill end batches from my eBay CTH pusher. It must be Loden, if it’s consistent between batches, but I can’t be sure because I’ve never seen official CTH in Loden.
WHY did I buy a pound and a half of this, you ask? Because I’m a packrat, I’m obsessed with yarn, and it was on sale. That’s why.
