WIP Wednesday

Before I tackle all that blue stuff I want to finish, I have a couple of other things on the needles.

102

This is a Peaks Island Hood, which I started on my recent holiday trip to visit relatives in Illinois. Seed stitch was the perfect thing to work on when hanging out with the fam, because it’s so simple. The beautiful Malabrigo Silky Merino in Velvet Grapes makes it look a bit more interesting.

This is a Honeycomb Vest, in the same shade of red I used to make Glasgow Lace. It’s my mom’s color, so the yarn was calling out to be something for her.

103

I had wanted to finish it for my mom’s birthday, but it looks like it will be finished for my birthday instead. That’s appropriate, eh? I suppose we should give our mothers gifts on our birthday, not the other way around.

2010 Preview

Ok, I know I said I wasn’t going to do any knitting goals. But I can’t resist discussing my queue for the year.

096

I have a bunch of sock yarn. Maybe I should actually knit some socks. The Cookie A/Knitty canon of Hedera, Pomatomus and Monkey seems like a logical place to start.

I entered the 10 Shawls in 2010 challenge on rav, which is probably a bad idea (in that I’m doomed to fail). But whatever, I like knitting shawls and I have plenty of lace yarn. The really colorful one on the right is the Creatively Dyed that I got at Rhinebeck, and I think it wants to be a Featherweight Cardigan rather than a shawl.

There are also a bunch of projects I want to finish in 2010.

Hmm, all blue for some reason.

They are, clockwise from upper left, Wisteria, Orangina, Tailored Scallops, and Babette. While I’m mostly a process knitter, I really want to finish those projects because I think I’d get a lot of use out of the finished products.

What do you have on tap for 2010?

In case you missed it – December 2009

Last year and the year before I began the year with a post about my crafting goals.  I’m not going to do that this year.  I have enough career-related stuff going on (graduate!  pass the bar!  start working!) that the last thing I need is any knitting-related stress.  My goal for 2010 is to have fun!  With that, here is a rundown of my favorite posts from December.
